This is a journal of food studies and food history that has appeared three times a year since 1980. Together with Prospect Books, PPC was founded by Alan and Jane Davidson. The late Alan Davidson was author of three standard works on seafood and fish cookery, as well as author of The Oxford Companion to Food. The publishing house Prospect Books passed into the hands of Tom Jaine in 1993; the editing and publishing of PPC was taken on by Tom Jaine in 2000, from issue number 64. For more about Prospect Books, see the website www.prospectbooks.co.uk. PPC is A5 format and normally contains 128 pages. As well as articles on food history, an issue will contain several book reviews. Sometime we reprint some short pamphlet or production from history; sometimes we have a longer article that takes up most of an issue.

Back numbers of the journal are available from Prospect Books at Allaleigh House in Devon (most are in stock, but not 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 48 and 60, see below) . Their individual price is £6 per issue, UK post free. Considerable discounts are available if you should choose to order a run of back issues. We will supply a CD with a PDF of PPC 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 48 or 60 to anyone asking for one.  Note that the quality of the PDF is not quite as good as the original printing since it is the result of a scan, but the information is as good as ever.
